Week 10 Ref Web Sites

My goodness, OK so behind the power curve is a huge understatement after looking at some of your web pages!!!!! Really collectively impressed with the work that my classmates have done!

Week 10

Well, I have absolutely no problem saying that I struggled through most of this class. I cant say for sure the exact reason, other than maybe my lack of prior working knowledge with this type of work. I did fine until we started working with some of the web development structure more in depth. Which I know is barely scratching the surface! Thinking I need to practice tinkering with this stuff before I take another class that is similar to this one.

After talking to many different people, I found out that they received introduction to several of the programs that we used in this class. I am 33, and from Arkansas, so as you can imagine computers and the Web were still very much in their infancy compared to the leaps and bounds that technology has made since I graduated high school in 1997! As far as touching on a useful Web Application that I would think is useful, I am at a deadlock. The amount of interactive web pages that have been developed so far leave me thinking very hard as to what I Would bring to the table that would be useful.

Wee6 Post 2

Well, since this is a post that I missed, I would like to talk about writing in code in general. Prior to this, I had no experience doing this at all. at this point I have a very basic understanding of it, but after talking to some of my class mates, they had gained somewhat of a working knowledge of writing web code prior to taking this class. I have gained a general understanding of the different systems we have used so far.

I went through the class work, and I am not sure that I was able to change the background color correctly. The draggable code worked fine. I need to work on the code aspect of this class! jquery seemed to be a interesting tool for manipulating web pages. I am just not sure that I would use it very often. cmpeagle@blogspot.com

Week 8 Part 2

I have seen many great ideas for an interactive web site. One that comes to mind is a page that list free or low cost events, it could be tailored to a specific region. With the economy in such poor shape this has the potential to impact a wide range of people, college students, single parents, families, you name it.  

Week 8 Part 1

I do not personally have any experience creating, or maintaining an interactive web site. This has all been really new to me. I hate to show my age, but computers and technology were not very big when I was in high school. This resulted in 0 exposure to it!!! However, I am learning a lot, probably still not caught up yet, but learning…..

Week 7 Part Two

Is there anyone out there who works with someone that is the good idea fairy in the office? I work with a guy that is fairly new. It seems like every sentence starts with "well when I worked at ____ we did it this way". Anyone who it is driving me crazy.  At first I tried to tolerate it, now it's all I can do to keep from completely flying off the handle.  I wonder if he can sense my aggression towards him? He probably doesn't even know why.  I'm not saying that I cannot appreciate the value of offering something new and improved, but there is a point where it is very aggravating.  I have tried to drop some open and that I could care less about what he did in previous employment positions, but he really doesn't seem to be picking up on it.

Have any of you worked with a person like this? If so, how did you deal with them? I am about ready to lose my mind and I don't think that is the best approach.

Week 7 Survey Post

I can really appreciate the value of this tool! This would be especially true if you were in an instructor of some sort. I really enjoyed working with the jot form web site.  It really made short work of writing code, which made the experience much more enjoyable personally. Not that I mind learning how to manually construct all of these different things, but I feel like if there are resources available to stream line a task then they should be used. Just as long as the end result is the same!

Week 6

OK so here we are at the start of week six. I can’t honestly still say that I don’t feel any more confident with this course than I did at week 1.

Since we’re talking about different web applications that we used, I personally have used TurboTax for the last two years to file my taxes for the last two years.

It seems to be a relatively easy site to navigate. After you sign up for a free account they walk you thru step by step. It doesn’t matter what deductions you have to file or if you’re a homeowner or a business owner. The fee for using the web site is relatively small. I would personally recommend TurboTax to people as a simple solution to filing taxes. If you like to check out the web address is WWW.TurboTax.com .
