The impact of such readily available information creates more of a misinformation problem in my opinion. Just because it is on the Internet does not mean it is true. We should take more time to properly evaluate the resource of information before assume it is true.

People are so absorbed with technology that their interpersonal skills are terrible. We are so reliant on social media apps, and other forms of modern communication that people don’t interact nearly as often.

Another example is the medias ability to spread panic so rapidly. For instance, gun control, if you go to the store it is hard to find a pistol. The price of firearms are also very high because of this

Week 4 Part 2

I figure that I should talk about something other than this class. So this weekend, I was invited to Cape Cod to attend an annual wild game feast.

I was very hesitant at first, because I am not a big fan of being around crowds of people that I don’t know. Eventually I gave in and made the 4 hour trip from western Mass.

The game feast has been going on for 40 years as of current. It was started in 1972, and most of the people in attendance are the founders, spouses, or children. It is apparently rare for people to be invited. Once I had arrived, I found everyone to be extremely friendly.

The food was another sight! They made dishes from every game animal you could imagine! The food never stopped coming. Once one dish had been put out on the table, the guys were already back in the kitchen preparing another.

Week 4

Well, at this point in the class, I really am not sure what to think. Content seems to be all over the place. Instruction continues to be very vague, and my patience growing thin.

I figured out how to change the font color in our web pages, and embed the pictures and videos. I just seems like it is much more of a labored function than it should be. Don’t get me wrong, I am a very capable problem solver, and critical thinker, but some of this seems over the top. At least if it were more organized I feel like I could decipher it a lot easier. At the close of each week, I always find myself wondering if there is something that I may have missed with this class.

Aside from all of the negative things, I feel more confident manipulating, and creating a web page. The ftp is a very easy feature to use.

Week 3 Discussion Topic

 

 

The internet has greatly increased our ability to communicate. I have experienced this through web sites such as facebook, and skype. It is an invaluable asset when serving abroad in order to stay connected with friends and family.

In the aspect of news reporting, I have found it to be somewhat frustrating. It seems like news is reported so rapidly that sometimes reporters or editors don’t have time to vet all of the information for accuracy. Not to mention the grammatical and spelling errors associated with many news articles.

I have been guilty of sending an email before I had time to think it over. Although I guess over the years as I have matured, I will either write an email or think about it for a while before sending, or I will just contemplate my response until I am sure it can be done in a productive manner.  As far as feeling empowered by anonymity of email, they will eventually catch up to you, so its better to think about it before you hit send. Kind of hard to take it back once you have pressed the button!

Higher Education Online

I feel like in the world of online education it is imperative to present clear concise material. Unlike being in a classroom environment, we are left to follow the exact instructions presented to us. For instance, when this course first began I felt very overwhelmed! No we won’t use blackboard, we are using this and that. Then we turn around and are told we will only be using blackboard. I am hoping that the initial foundation is not a good representation of how the rest of the class is going to be, but I don't have a very good feeling about it. I am going to try and hang in there, and hope it levels out!!!

I continue to read the emails that people are sending out (myself included) trying to find their way in class. My personal feeling is that things feel very scattered out. Maybe it is just me. Some of it is just the wording. Upload your web page to a web site. Turns out, from what I am gathering, is upload your web page to your student folder via FTP. If these were the instructions, well hell that’s too easy, we had the FTP videos right below it for people not familiar with FTP.

Once again, this isn’t a dig at the professor, I just am really not sure if it’s only me or not. I am hoping that it is just learning the format of this class. The material is not difficult to grasp, more so learning the flow of the class
